Here is a recent project completed.  Here is a midsize Jacob and John Bieber blanket chest.  It is made out of pine, dovetailed for the box, skirt, and dust seal.  Panel and frame for the lid.  The father and son team were known for their deforested chests but specifically for their hearts.  So I recreated the hearts by making a stencil and painting those on with an acrylic paint.  The main body of the chest is latex.  I put two coats of Waterlox original finish over it.  The hinges, lock, and escutcheon were purchased from Paxton hardware.  The dimensions are 27"W x 18"d x 20" h.  Painted chests are a favorite of mine and the Pennsylvania Dutch have created a lot of great examples, and help me tap into my own Pennsylvania Dutch roots.  One of my ancestors Henry Lapp was also a great inspiration for this project.
